He kept telling me no, people at work smoked around him, etc. I finally saw him with them in his hand, and he STILL lied about it. Which was stupid and I pointed that out, and I was extremely upset. After giving him multiple chances to be honest he still chose to lie to me about something to trivial and stupid, even AFTER catching him with a pack in his hand. So in a lot of cases it's not really about if your SO trusts YOU enough to be honest, it's that they can't trust themselves to break longtime bad habits. In his case, he learned a terrible lifestyle from his egg donor/incubator, and it's going to take a time to work on being an honest person. I don't think he fully understands honesty, and that is sad, especially when I am honest to the point of brutally if you ask me for my honest opinion on something.
